Hello Nokviewers and Nokreaders,

It is good to have you here, reading, commenting, sharing and liking my post. Today post aim to share some perceptions on crisis and culture. Enjoy and learn.

Crisis and conflict have ravaged the societies and states from time immemorial, thus it is not a new phenomenon. Nevertheless, in the 20th century and 21st century, crisis and conflict has advanced to a higher degree due to several reasons such as the presence of human conditions like greed, the presence of weapons of mass destruction, pandemics, wars to mention a few. The term conflict and crises has been used interchangeably, despite almost meaning the same thing, a measure of difference is visible. To attempt to show the difference, today’s post would look at Lebow Richard 1981 and  Walls 1985 definition of the concepts, then try to show the little difference.

Lebow Richard (1981) exposes that crisis is a situation where there is a perception of threat, heightened anxiety, expectation of possible violence and belief that any action will have far reaching consequences.

Conflict to Wells (1985) Is a process in which two or more parties attempt to frustrate the other (state, country, opposition) an attain a certain goal. Deutch 1973. Conflict exist whenever incompatible activities occur, in which  one party is interfering, disrupting, obstructing or in some other way making another party’s action….

Looking at the above explanations of crisis and conflict, it can thus be said that  one is the existence of threat and violence, while the other is the presence of a disagreement born from the need of one party interest. When one party manipulates the possible threat and violence which leads to an unharmonious activity that frustrate one party and leads to another party achieving its goals.

Take note crises is the plural for crisis.

Also, conflict does not always turn to the display of violence.
