A HISTORY AND CULTURE OF THE NEW YEAR AND NEW YEAR DAY.

The Tradition of celebrating the New Year dates back to thousands of years, the day allotted for the celebration varies due to different calendar and culture, most recently, January 1st has become one of the most celebrated day of the New Year, while some others celebrate a day in April as the start of their own new year.

New Year Day is recognized as the first day of the calendar of a New Year, majorly the Julian and Roman Calendar. It is the celebration of the first day which signifies the beginning of the new year. Some other people do not celebrate January.

The Sixth Century signifies the start of when January 1st became traditionally celebrated as the New Year day / festive period. this was because the Romans introduced the Julian Calendar. It is also seen to some as the first day of the earth 365 days .

New year Day signifies the time to plan, time to hope, time to start afresh, time to set goals and resolutions, time to look back and be grateful to mention a few.

In Nigeria, New Year is celebrated with music, vigils, celebration, and parties. There is a display of fire works.

In United States of America, Fire works are the other of the day, there are also countdown parties and balls.

In Netherland, bonfires are made with the use of Christmas trees and there is also fireworks on christmas eve

Japanese celebrate with parties known as Bonekai which means forget the year party

In South Korea, many Koreans visit family, perform ancestral rites, wear hanbok (한복), eat traditional food, and play folk games.

In Spain, on New Year Eve, at midnight the Spanish eats 12 grape to secure the new year and the 12 months that comes with it

In the United Kingdom, there is the New Year Day’s Parade and in other area there is the usage of fire works and the presence of parties and balls to celebrate the new year.
