PAN AFRICANISM

A lot of us have directly or indirectly heard or seen the word Pan Africanism. Today’s post is to give a simple explanation of this concept.

Pan Africanism is a complex concept with diverse element. Scholars, historians among have called Pan Africanism the black nationalism. It has been conceptualized as an ideology that unify and uplift the African descent.

It is important to note the Pan African movement originated in the West Indies, USA and Europe. The movement was as a result of the reaction of blacks against centuries of domination and humiliation in the above mentioned areas.

Pan Africanism have metamorphosed into  a greater sphere as it  includes blacks all around the world. It now stands for racial co-existence on the basis of absolute equality and respects for human dignity.

In a nutshell, Pan Africanism stands for political, economic, social, cultural unity of blacks. It is thus a concept that stresses the spiritual unity of black people and also the right for self-determination, the need to be treated with dignity as equal to other race in all part of the world.

Notable people in the Pan Africanist movement includes the early people such as W.B Dubios , Marcus Garvey,  the period from 1945 Kwame Nkurimah, H.O Davis, S.L Akintola, Magnus Williams, Wallace Johnson, Jomo Kenyatta, Peter Abraham. To mention a few.b16dde8027f73fec5872dfbbceaf3e0c
