The Power of Ethnic and Racial Statements.

Generally as humans some statements and words are made intentionally and some are not. Today’s post is focusing on the unintentional statements we make as individual.

These ethnic and racial statements are now recent trends which should be stopped. These statements only bring about grievances and anger  between the different and racial and ethnic group.

For simple racial statements we have

• Because she is black, she is an illiterate
• The whites are aggravating

The above statements goes deeper than this made. It is important to note that racial and ethnic statements have been by Presidents, Lawyers, even we as individuals   which have aggravated the racial tension.

With the study of history, evidences are available that most countries in the world are multi-ethnic. History as also shown that ethnicity and racial statement have been used in politics, daily living etc. The discussion above have in a way become a norm.

Now ethnic statements are made between individuals, but  mostly between different ethnic groups like in Nigeria words are exchanged between The Igbo ethnic group  and Yoruba ethnic group. In Rwanda, we have the Hutu and Tutsi to mention a few.

The point is that as individuals we can change this derogatory trend. Due to the normalcy almost everybody makes this mistake. Once this mistake is made, we should try to defuse the situation by apologizing and recognize the mistake be it Intentional or not.

Lastly, these statements harms and hurts humanity generally and individuals personally. People have had terrible experiences in relation to today’s post.

We are all humans. Let us Love and do to others what we want others to do us.
