HISTORICAL TRAJECTORY OF MEXICO

 

Mexico is a country characterised by a long history with different epochs, to try and exhume it all in this todays post would be detrimental . In other words today’s post woul look at pre colonial and colonial Mexico.

Mexico from Historical perspective includes several periods namely Pre-colonial Mexico, Spanish conquerors, and the colony of new Spain which is under the Colonial period (1521–1810), Reform and reaction: the move to Independence (1807–1829), Trails of Nation hood: Political Instability in the early Republic, Mexican-American War (1846–1848), Liberal and  conservative search: Struggle for liberal reform (1855–1872), Modernization of Mexico: Porfiriato (1876–1910) , The Revolution of (1910–1920), The Revolution to evolution: The Constructive Phase (1920-1970), Economic crisis (1970–1994) and Contemporary Mexico.[1]

MEXICO IN THE 14th – Early 17th Century (PRE-COLONIAL AND COLONIAL MEXICO)

The Pre-colonial Mexico which was popularly called the pre Columbian Mexico, The classic period and post classic period. Pre-colonial Mexico was an entity that comprised of different ancient cities/ Civilisation such as the Aztec, Maya, Tenochtitlan, Civilisation, etc. it has been said to run 3 millennia,[2] it suffuses the art, philosophy and literature which is still stamped. This period was  known to be one of the most influential in the development of the present city state, this was because the cites before the coming of the Spaniards  had emerged a complex the technology, central and  civic religious  complex that was necessary for creating one of the splendours of ancient worlds.[3]

Mexico was conquered in the 16th century popularly known as the conquest of Mexico in 1522 The Spanish occupied this territory for three centuries. [4]After the Conquest The Spanish consolidated their position in the western Hemisphere what was called the new world and what was to be called Mexico.[5] The Colonial economic philosophy was mercantilism and the economic policies were protectionist in the sense that the economy of new Spain was restricted by limitation, closely regulation on commerce and industry imposed by the imperial system, this impeded the growth of industry and commerce in Mexico. In other words Mexico was administered principally for the benefit of the Empire and its military and defensive efforts. Mexico provided more than half of the Empire taxes and supported the administration of all North and Central America. Competition with the metropolis was discouraged The Locals and their environs was characterised by underdeveloped transportation, rural banditry, inhibition of the evolution of a strong and diversified economy etc , [6]that by the time the Mexican fought and gained their independence, they encountered  a lot of challenges which paved way for bad governance, debt, poverty etc.
